MAKE YOUR TRANSITION HOME SEAMLESS

Mar 17th, 2016

Have you ever had one of “those” days where things just aren’t clicking for you? Let me set the scene for you.

It’s been a long day. You have a million things on your to-do list and on your mind.  After you left work, you picked up the kids from daycare and headed to the grocery store. You had quite the shopping list so the kids are pretty hungry, a bit fussy, and you’ve got a completely full trunk of groceries to unload. You pull in the drive and push your garage door opener only to discover the battery is dead. You park the car and start to unload the kids and groceries thinking you’ll just go in the front door instead.  You reach your front door only to realize your keys are buried and your arms are full. You struggle to shift the groceries, careful not to drop anything, and begin searching for your keys. To make matters worse, the late hour and fading daylight have made it difficult to see. The kids are getting anxious to get inside and your arms are starting to ache with the weight of grocery bags.  Finally, you find your keys and make your way into the dark house feeling your way for the lights as you go…

Now, imagine how that scene would play out if we were living in a world where things flow a little easier.

As you near your home, your exterior lights turn on and your garage door opens for you. You park the car and start to unload the kids and groceries.  No need to worry about your keys because your door has unlocked for you and all you need to do is push it open. As you open the door the hall and kitchen lights turn on. You make your way to the kitchen and begin unloading your groceries as the kids head off to play while they wait for dinner…

It sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it? It’s not! It’s entirely possible with our new products and services powered by Alarm.com.  Allow me to elaborate.  We can now help make your life a little more seamless by integrating Geo-Fencing services, Lutron lighting devices, Z-wave garage controls, and Z-wave locks with your security system.

So, what is Geo-Fencing?

Geo-Fencing is a service that uses the GPS on your smart phone to trigger pre-determined events, like your lights turning on or your thermostat adjusting, based on your location.  Here’s how it works, you set up the pre-determined perimeter and events you would like to have happen, then when you and your phone re-enter the perimeter you set, your system puts your events into action.  In the scenario above, for example, the Geo-Fencing service sent a signal to the system when the phone re-entered the set perimeter telling it to turn on the exterior lights, open the garage door, unlock the door and turn on the interior lights leading into the house.

With Geo-Fencing services and the right devices you can live in a world where your transition home can be seamless, no matter how much you have going on.
